Genoa, the new coach is Thiago Motta: only signatures are missing
The Genoa starts from a great ex: on the bench of the rossoblùs, as a new coach, he is in fact coming – a little surprisingly – Thiago Motta. The former Genoa, Inter, Psg and National midfielder will replace Aurelio Andreazzoli, now on the brink of exemption (which however has not yet been formalized) after a decidedly disappointing start of season: only 5 points in the first 8 games and well 20 goals conceded
The classic drop that caused the vase to overflow was the resounding defeat, for 5-1, remedied Sunday 20 October 2019 at the hands of Parma. It was that game that sanctioned the definitive break between the patron, Enrico Preziosi, and Andreazzoli, who in the post game had appeared quite resigned to his destiny.
The Thiago Motta idea at Genoa had long been in the mind of Preziosi. Despite this, the Genoa number one had first probed other routes, preferring first of all the experience of Motta's enthusiasm, which among other things has not yet obtained the coaching license for the Serie A. So, before him, Preziosi had spoken with Gennaro Gattuso, who after a few hesitations had declined the offer, and with Stefano Pioli, who ended up with Milan in place of the exonerated Marco Giampaolo.
The two renunciations, for different reasons, had led Preziosi to continue with Andreazzoli, at the end of a summit that had sanctioned a new understanding between the two. Agreement, however, lasted only two weeks (also because of the stop for the national team). The penultimate place in the standings, after the defeat against Parma, meant that the negotiations with Thiago Motta accelerated
During the day there was the meeting of the Genoa patron with Thiago Motta, who is following the Coverciano supercorso to take the license. Tomorrow in the morning the signature should arrive, with the consequent exemption of Andreazzoli. The first training session with the new coach of Genoa should therefore be tomorrow afternoon: the session scheduled for today had been canceled due to the particular situation created after yesterday's defeat at Tardini. The debut of the Italian will be Saturday night at the Ferraris against Brescia, in a race that is already fundamental for the future of a Genoa .
