Disney was launched with a couple of original films in Lady and the Wanderer and Noelle and we don't have too much time to wait for the next upcoming streaming service. The first trailer of Togo , the story of a boy and his dog … and also a blizzard and a race to save lives, it will be here before the end of December, and the first trailer of the film has just come out. Check it out.
Togo is the story of a dog and its owner , Leonhard Seppala, who traveled hundreds of miles across the Alaskan desert to help bring diphtheria drugs to the city of Nome, where an outbreak had occurred. The new film is played by Willem Dafoe in the role of Seppala. However, the name of the film is the name of the dog and, according to the trailer, it looks like the star of the show.
We see the little dog both as an adorable puppy and as 12 – leader of a year of a sled team, so the film looks like it will cover much more than the Serum Run and will tell the whole story of the life of this fantastic dog.
It is difficult to guess what we will have Togo . This is the only third original film we've ever seen from Disney, so we still don't have an idea of what Disney's goal or focus will be with these films.
That said, Togo looks like a combination of an emotional story between man and animal and an exciting and combative sports film (discounted, with higher odds than usual). These are two genres with which Disney has a lot of experience and success, and therefore Togo could have a little for this.
And he has Willem Dafoe in his head and you can hardly ever make mistakes with him. For a part of the film, potentially largely, he will probably be the only human on the screen, so he will do much of the hard work of this film.
While Lady and the Wanderer e Noelle were not terrible films, nor were the home scenes that Disney probably wanted them to be. Disney doesn't need big hits like we expect from them on the big screen. However, some solid films that get generally positive reactions will contribute to making Disney even more of the “must have” streaming app for anyone who hasn't signed up for three years.
The only curious thing about Togo is its date release. The film will be released in December 12, the same day of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker . Although it is not clear if you can bury a streaming movie with a theatrical film, it seems that Togo could not get many eyeballs during his first weekend, as many people will go to the theater. Or that, or Disney is setting its own counter-programming option for those who are less interested in the galaxy, far, far away.
