The last of the playable characters to be added to the Borderlands 2 offer, Krieg is one of the best-named characters of the title , given that his skill trees combine with each other in an excellent manner, giving excellent results in the builds that cover multiple branches and boasting enormous flexibility in general. In a sense, it is the Borderlands 2 character that most of all approaches the design used later in Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, in which the skill tree intersects particularly well.

SKILL TREE – GENERAL CONCEPTS

Krieg embodies in all respects the qualities of the Psychos that infest pandora: a real muscular madman, ready to disintegrate whatever is within reach, specializing just like his “brothers” in the use of explosives, in melee and elemental damage, with particular meaning to fire.

The skill tree on the left, “Sete di sangue” , is a branch strongly oriented to use of killing skills, all seasoned with a mechanic based on the accumulation of blood-thirsty stack (Bloodlust), which unlike stack anarchy by Gaige , they are acquired and lost very quickly. Without any doubt the most difficult branch to understand (but not to use) of the character, also because n and there are countless possible combinations , it is also the most powerful of the game, since it allows different exploits to disintegrate any enemy, including bosses from raid.

The central skill tree, “Mania” , is strongly oriented to body-to-body damage, to resistance physical and in some ways also to the use of explosives and shotguns. It is undoubtedly the easiest branch to develop, the most recommended for novice players and sufficiently balanced to make possible a build not entirely based on close combat

The skill tree on the right, “Infernale” , is the branch dedicated to elemental damage, with particular attention to incendiary damages, governed by a game mechanic that allows Krieg to set fire to himself. In truth this very mechanic makes the character extremely difficult to use if you are a beginner , starting to work as you must only once you get close to the end of the branch. It is the branch that more than any other focuses on giving a lot of boost to weapon damage and is in perfect synergy with the Bloodthirsty branch.

ACTION SKILLS: AFFILIATED DESTRUCTION

Krieg's action ability allows him to enter a destructive fury, equipping his ax, gaining a noticeable increase in melee damage (equal to 500% of the original damage) and also an increase in the speed of movement, in perfect synergy with the need to attack in melee.

Every kill carried out during the action skill completely regenerates the energy of Krieg, thus allowing him to survive longer, but at the same time the psycho will be able to attack only and exclusively with his ax, which he can launch by holding down the button to aim.

There are also two additional things to know about Sharp destruction : the first is that his cooldown is incredibly long , but any damage suffered by Krieg considerably increases the top-up speed , including the damage that Krieg inflicts by setting itself ablaze spontaneously; this bonus is further enhanced by a skill in the central branch, which however activates friendly fire on the character. The second thing is that Krieg was made heavier by the developers than the other characters , a choice of game design dictated by the need to fight in mixes, in a system, that of Borderlands 2 , where many enemies are able to emit impulses or repel nearby opponents. Krieg will be affected much less strongly by these forces .

This ability to act is sometimes completely neglected by some builds, where in fact its activation is even inconvenient and can even lead to death, due to choices that lead to insufficient development in this direction; examples can be the build based on the use of the grenade Fastball or build strongly oriented to the use of the branch Infernal , like the Legendary Torch .

GREEN TREE SKILL: SETE DI SANGUE

BLOOD ARMS – 5 POINTS

For each level of this skill, you gain an increase to the maximum magazine size of 0.5% for each currently possessed bloodlust stack. It is an excellent skill, particularly convenient for those who use the infernal branch, but valid for anyone who makes extensive use of weapons.

This ability activates the Stacks of Blood mechanics.

BLOOD SPASM – 5 POINTS

For each level of this skill, you gain an increase in weapon change rate of 0.3% for each currently possessed bloodlust stack. This too is an excellent skill, complementary to the previous one and is particularly useful for those who need to change weapons quickly, like those who use elemental weapons.

This ability activates the thirsty blood stack mechanics.

BLOOD FLAVOR – 5 POINTS

A skill that provides a strong damage reduction based on the number of bloodlust stacks, but only during Sharp Destruction; furthermore, every kill obtained during this mode provides a considerable bonus of Bloodlust points. The growth of skill is not linear.

This skill is essential for those who aim for a strongly focused body-to-body build, becoming negligible for those who use builds that are more oriented to damage to weapons.

BLOODY RESUSCITATION – 5 POINTS

A skill that increases the damage of assault rifles by 0.3% per point spent and for each stack Thirst for Blood. It is not a skill that we recommend, but it can be used with particularly positive results in certain builds.

BLOOD MULTIPLIER – 5 POINTS

By killing with a bullet, this killing ability is activated and provides 0.5% of melee damage per level and per stack of Bloodthirst, while reducing the duration of grenade fuse.

It is part of the “tern” of the killing skills of this branch.

BLOOD BATH – 5 POINTS

One of the best skills of the branch, carrying out a killing with a grenade or an explosion (including the elemental explosion of one Nova shield ), you get 0.5% weapon damage per skill level and to stack Bloodthirst, also the enemies killed in this way can release a grenade, with a probability that scale of 15% at the level. Bringing this skill to level 7 or higher, an enemy will always release a grenade, different builds are based on this exploit, in particular the one that sees the use of the Fastball grenade.

SHARPENER – 1 POINT

This Sharp Destruction modifier allows you to attach dynamite to the ax when it is cast. It is an excellent modifier, which greatly increases the damage inflicted by the throwing of the ax, in synergy with the rest of this branch.

FEED THE BLOOD – 5 POINTS

A melee killing provides 0.2% increase in grenade damage per level and per Stack of Bloodthirst, plus you get a small bonus on stack accumulation via melee killing

It is part of the “tern” of the killing skills of this branch and has an important role for those who play concentrating on melee damage; the ax loaded with dynamite will be strongly influenced by this ability

BLOODY TRANCE – 5 POINTS

Increases the duration of Affiliated Destruction by 0, 05 per skill point and for Blood Thirst Stack. Although this allows a considerable extension of the action ability, it is an extremely inconvenient skill, one of the worst of the skill tree: in fact it is very important that Sharp Destruction runs out as soon as possible, to take advantage of the bonus provided by the stone miliary of the central branch, Frees the beast .

We strongly suggest to avoid it.

REFLECTIVE BLOOD – 5 POINTS

This skill increases the delay with which the Thirst for Blood stacks begin to decay, with a substantial 2.5 second bonus at level 5. A skill certainly useful, but which can be ignored to give priority to others .

NERVOUS BLOOD – 5 POINTS

This ability provides an increase to the recharge speed of 0.3% per skill point and for Blood Thirst Stack. One of the best abilities for those who use heavily weapon-based and elemental damage based builds can instantly recharge, especially if coupled with other specific abilities.

EXPLOSANGUE – 1 POINT

This ability causes each enemy killed to explode, releasing an elemental nova based on the element that killed it (in the case of non-elemental damage the damage will be explosive). In addition to inflicting considerable basic damage, all damage in excess of the kill will be added to the damage of the nova, further enhancing it by 5% for a Thirst for blood stack in possession.

This is one of the strongest skills in the game, so powerful that it disintegrates all the enemies in an area without any effort; the damage from the explosion will also be considered a grenade damage, therefore enhanced by all the abilities that provide bonuses to explosives or grenades.

With the maximum of Thirst for Blood stacks the excess damage will actually be multiplied by 6 ( 500%). This makes possible some exploits and gimmicks in combat, particularly useful against raid bosses, but universally valid; a particularly efficient example is that of the Fastball grenade, whose damage is aligned with that of a rocket launcher and in perfect synergy with the rest of the branch.

SKILL TREE BLU: MANIA

DOWNLOAD THE ANGER – 5 POINTS

This skill provides a 4% bonus to melee damage, plus an additional bonus of 10% if the shield is unloaded. Fundamental for those who build the branch focusing on melee damage, with particular benefits in the cases of one shield Maylay .

PULL THE SPOLETTA – 1 POINT

A skill that allows Krieg to release a surprise grenade whenever he is killed; kills with this grenade allow you to earn double experience points. It cannot be used to get out of the struggle for life.

A skill that leaves the time it finds, we advise against activating it.

FEED THE MEAT – 5 POINTS

An increase of 10% of maximum health at the level, combined with a delay of 0.5 seconds to top up the shield, per point spent. An excellent skill can prove counterproductive where the Health Gating is used , but in general an excellent coupled to shields Maylay or builds that make use of Shield of the Firehawk .

WELCOME THE PAIN – 5 POINTS

A 7% increase in the rate of fire and 1 second in the shield reload delay, when the shield is unloaded. Again, great skill for those who exploit Maylay shields or the Shield of the Firehawk.

FEED THE DESTRUCTION – 5 POINTS

This ability activates friendly fire on Krieg, allowing it to suffer damage from allies, but at the same time it provides a tremendous bonus to recharge the action ability, doubled in the case of direct damage to health. This bonus is actually a multiplier applied to a game mechanic already present on the character, as mentioned in the paragraph dedicated to Sharp Destruction

This is a skill that is generally avoided like the plague, also seen and considered as the damage of allies to the highest difficulties becomes; in return, spending points on the ability reduces damage from friendly fire, bringing it to a minimum of 5% once the level is reached 10, even at 1% if leveled 11 with a specific Rara quality class mod.

NOTE: a teammate who plays with Maya with a build in which friendly fire heals allies, still activates the effect of this ability, regenerating Krieg's health instead of damaging it; nevertheless, we strongly suggest that you ignore the skill and bet on other more useful skills, also because the toxic cloud of Maya or its grenades can still kill Krieg instead of curing it.

THRILL OF KILLER – 5 POINTS

A skill that allows you to recover energy based on the damage in excess of a kill, based on your missing health; the ability does not have a linear growth, with an initial bonus that allows regenerating until 50% of missing health

This is a very bad skill, to be avoided in any build strongly oriented to the use of action ability, since any killing obtained in those conditions allows you to instantly recover all the energy, negating this ability. However, there are some builds that can help, for example the Legendary Reaper or builds on elemental damage and weapon damage.

LIGHT UP THE MICCIA – 1 POINT

This modifier allows you to transform the struggle for life into a mode that allows you to move around normally, including the ability to shoot, but forcing us to use a bundle of dynamite to inflict damage. Once at the end of the time available, Krieg will blow himself up, inflicting enormous damage, obtaining the last chance of resurrection in case he makes a kill. Furthermore, for a short time following a killing, a bonus will be provided 40% at the speed of movement.

It is an apparently good ability, actually highly counterproductive, with only circumstantial utility. Much of the demerit is due to the damage of the bundle of dynamite, decidedly low to the highest difficulties, where it is possible to fight in the struggle for life with more effective tools.

SCARNIFICA – 5 POINTS

This ability provides a 3% increase in explosive damage, doubled if you are fighting for life. Excellent skill, especially for builds that rely on high explosive damage, is a great filler if you intend to reach the milestone at the end of the skill tree without going through specific skills.

REDEEM THE SOUL – 1 POINT

This ability allows Krieg to instantly revive allies, at the cost of entering the struggle for life, but can only be used once per charge of the ability to act. The time of struggle for life is increased by 50%, making it a great skill regardless of the build.

SALT ON THE WOUND – 5 POINTS

This skill allows you to accumulate salt stack on the wound when you suffer direct health damage, up to a maximum of 20. Each point of the skill gives a 1.5% bonus to melee damage and 1% damage to shotgun guns, both multiplied by the salt stack on the wound.

This is an excellent skill, which finds space in practically any Krieg build, without distinction.

KEEP THE ITEMS – 5 POINTS

This ability is extremely controversial, as it provides unmatched bonuses to melee damage, while making Krieg's gameplay a highly risky one.

Regardless of the level, activating this ability Krieg will have a probability of 12% hit on the head with the ax instead of attacking an enemy, either in a normal melee attack, or in an attack during Sharp Destruction, including cast mode.

In return, each point of the skill provides a bonus of 50% to melee damage, reaching the absurd amount of 500% if carried to the level 10. At higher difficulties it is advisable to avoid using this skill with one Maylay shield , otherwise the certainty of inflicting lethal damage with a single blow

In general, it is activated only if the necessary precautions and countermeasures are taken, otherwise ignored

FREE THE BEAST – 1 POINT

This skill is one of the best modifiers for Sharp destruction, as well as one of Krieg's most powerful abilities: activating the action ability while at a critical health level (roughly equal to or less than 1 / 3 of maximum health), Krieg enters an alternative form of Sharp Destruction, turning into a tough Psycho, increasing by 100% melee damage and getting a damage reduction bonus of 50%. Moreover, perhaps the most useful aspect of all, health is instantly restored to its maximum and we become immune to any form of damage for the whole time of transformation.

With this skill Sharp Destruction becomes a real lifesaver, taking on properties that consistently change the gameplay of the character. For this reason, usually Krieg geared to hand-to-hand combat is in bad synergy with a Maya with build Nurse or with any build, personal or an ally, strongly oriented to health regeneration.

This ability gives the 7% probability per point spent that Krieg automatically burns by inflicting an incendiary status effect; the bonus is added to the one for Feed the Fire

FEED THE FIRE – 5 POINTS

A killing ability that increases by 40 % the probability of inflicting elemental effects. One of the best abilities for building on elemental damage, its bonus at higher levels becomes such that it can practically always apply elemental effects, with any weapon used.

This ability gives the 7% probability per point spent that Krieg automatically burns by inflicting an incendiary status effect; the bonus is added to the one for Feed the Fire

HARD NERVES – 5 POINTS

Each point spent in this ability provides a damage reduction of 10% when in flames. An excellent ability to avoid accidental death by self-combustion, offers a particularly useful bonus to characters who heavily exploit this skill tree.

PAIN IS POWER – 5 POINTS

This skill gives a 5% bonus to weapon damage per spent point, doubling it in case you are on fire; the bonus is not applied to sniper rifles which, on the contrary, suffer a further negative effect from this ability, which reduces critical strike damage by 5% per point spent.

To the detriment of the reduction to critical damage, it is an excellent skill, since no Krieg build predicts critical strike damage, except for those based on melee, which however will not exploit this ability.

ELEMENTAL JEWISH – 5 POINTS

A skill that activates the mechanics of the Elemental Hare stacks, which are accumulated whenever an elemental effect is applied and provide a bonus to the rate of fire and the size of the magazine. Each skill level adds 1% to both bonuses, which is to say at level 5 and after accumulating 20 stack, we will have cadence of fire and loader increased by 100%.

One of the best skills of the skill tree, is essential for elemental damage based builds, plus the fire rate bonus also applies to the throwing of the ax during Sharp Destruction.

ILLUSORY DAMAGE – 1 POINT

This modifier is absolutely the most important for any build that exploits this branch even partially. While normally Krieg can go up in flames inflicting incendiary elemental effects, with this ability any elemental effect (fire, electricity, corrosion, slag) allows the psycho to go up in flames.

IN VEST DEMON – 5 POINTS

This ability gives a probability of each spent point 10% to burn enemies with melee damage, plus a bonus while in flames of 10% of weapon accuracy and 7% of reload speed.

This is an all in all negligible ability, outclassed by many others in the same skill tree; in addition, most elemental builds do not in any way use the melee, leaning on weapon damage and grenade damage

VAGPA INFUOCATA – 5 POINTS

This skill for each point increases by 20% the duration of the psycho burning state, also provides a probability of 15% return to flames once the effect ends

Bringing the ability to level 7 or higher the state will be considerably extended and Krieg will be able to automatically return to flames, effectively doubling the duration of the bonus. INFERNAL BREATH – 1 POINT

Combined with the regeneration effect of Moxxi's weapons, thanks to this ability it is possible to use in peace any build based on elemental damage, since Krieg will be able to heal himself with inflicted damage, often becoming in effect immortal .

EXEMPLARY CASTIGO – 1 POINT

The milestone of this branch allows Krieg to counterattack once every second any damage suffered, by shooting fireballs that head towards the attacker, inflicting enormous damage.

It is an excellent modifier, in synergy with the rest of the branch and clearly useful in any build that goes so far in this skill tree.
